In 2017 our family's world was rocked when our daughter Annabelle was born with Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome. It came as a total surprise. At three days old we hurried to the doctors office only to be rushed to the local emergency room and hours later be sat down in a tiny room with a doctor with a very grim look on her face. She told
In 2017 our family's world was rocked when our daughter Annabelle was born with Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome. It came as a total surprise. At three days old we hurried to the doctors office only to be rushed to the local emergency room and hours later be sat down in a tiny room with a doctor with a very grim look on her face. She told us our daughter had a serious heart defect. It would require at least three open heart surgeries, maybe more in her lifetime. It was going to be a long and hard road ahead and would never be a total repair.
We felt like we'd been kicked in the gut. We were sad for our daughter, angry at the doctor for missing it in-utero, and scared about what the future held. Through lots of tears and a great support system we have found ourselves wanting to help other families affected by CHD. A Heart Like Mine Charity wants to give back to families, raise awareness, and help find a cure.
If you find yourself on this page, we want to extend a HUGE thank you for wanting to know our story and the story of so many other children. We try to remind our fellow friends, there are children's hospitals everywhere in the world; not one of them is empty. There are children whom are fighting to survive, every day of their lives. They didn't pick their congenital heart defect, it chose them and their families. We want to fight back the best way we know how; with LOTS of support and love.
Congenital Heart Defects are not something anyone wants to fight alone. Please join us so we can make a huge difference in the future of care for these families and medicine.

Our Mission
We focus on making the maximum positive effort for our community by sharing knowledge about congenital heart disease and how it effects so many across the world, but more so right here in our community. Our members and volunteers provide the momentum that helps us affect change and help families who are directly impacted.

We focus on making the maximum positive effort for our community by sharing knowledge about congenital heart disease and how it effects so many across the world, but more so right here in our community. Our members and volunteers provide the momentum that helps us affect change and help families who are directly impacted.
Our daughter, along with so many other babies and children have received life saving care at Arkansas Children's Hospital in Little Rock, Arkansas. Presently in 2020-2021 there is a brand new state of the art Cath Lab being built to further the level of care these heart kiddos will have access too. Along with this, a Single Ventricle Unit is in the talks so children like our very own daughter will have very specialized care and specialized doctors that children like her will need for the rest of their lives.
A Heart Like Mine is incredibly grateful for the vision had by Arkansas Children's Hospital. Through help from our very special donor family, we will be able to help keep up the momentum at ACH as well as helping families who find themselves in this roller coaster of a life long battle.
